Why work with a counsellor to apply for studies abroad

Annually, over 6.000 students who wish to study abroad, request information from our free counselling service and annually, over 2.000 of them apply to studies abroad and over 1.000 become international students. This is the average of EDMUNDO students abroad in our over 10 years of free counselling experience.

During this time, our team of counsellors has specialized and has grown steadily, always remaining impartial and well-prepared to support any student or parent who is uneasy in aspects related to studying abroad.

In this article, you will find out what kind of information or insights an EDMUNDO counsellor can provide you with and how important the details they offer are for your application.

Personalized counselling

If you have been thinking of studying abroad or are still curious to find out more about what it implies, you have certainly looked up information on the internet about the universities’ requirements and their eligibility criteria. Often, this information was incomplete and did not answer all your questions. Well, have no fear anymore, our team is here to help you for free if you want to become an international student.

The counselling offered is personalized, because each person interested in applying to studies abroad at any of our partner universities, is assigned a personal counsellor with whom he/she can discuss via e-mail, telephone or face-to-face, at the EDMUNDO office.

With a counsellor’s guidance, you will be able to find the programmes and universities that best match your academic and professional goals. Our counsellors are equipped with comprehensive knowledge of educational systems and are ready to answer all your questions.

Support in completing the best file

Applying to most universities abroad requires submitting an application file, which differs from one university programme to another. These differences can be explained by a counsellor who has interacted with each of those types of programmes. Our team of counsellors can advise you on which university programme is best-rated, what the living conditions are on campus/city or how you can benefit from Tuition Fee Loans, scholarships or other student funding opportunities.

All this because they are constantly attending conferences for counsellors, in the campuses and classrooms of our partner universities, so they have lived the experience you will be able to live if you become an international student.

In addition to the useful tips in writing a motivational essay or filling out your CV, your counsellor will make sure you meet all the eligibility criteria and application deadlines to maximize your chances of being accepted at the desired university.

“The first impression was just WOW. I could never imagine that I could get to benefit from such facilities and opportunities. I would like to thank you very much Bianca, for all the things you have helped me with, and I’m sure that without your help, I wouldn’t have made it here! Greetings from Liverpool! ”

Information about financing opportunities

A frequent question concerns the financial resources you need if you want to study abroad, from curiosities related to tuition fees, to how much you can earn per hour, in the event of finding a part-time job.

An EDMUNDO counsellor can help you with this information, by giving you specific details of the country in which you want to study, such as accurate information about what kind of student financial support (scholarships, tuition fee loans) is available to help you pay tuition fees and/or daily expenses and how you can apply for them.

The good and important news is that studies in Denmark and Sweden are free, and for daily expenses, you can access scholarships, government loans or find part time jobs. In the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and other countries are tuition fees, but there are also government loans, scholarships and part-time job opportunities. So, no worries, our counsellors can talk with your parents about the financial issues and you will certainly be able to handle this information early.

Tips & tricks about international student life

With such a vast experience, EDMUNDO counsellors will answer almost any question about your application, but especially, they can give you tips and tricks about the life that awaits you. Moreover, there are a number of documents that we can recommend you to have with you when arriving in the country that will “adopt” you for at least a few years of study. If this is the case, you will be able to receive details on how to prepare yourself for your new country, how to find a part-time job.

If your parents support you in studying abroad, you are lucky, but if they are not convinced that they will be able to support you morally and/or financially, they can talk to your counsellor at any time to get some insight on how to prepare.

“The teachers are understanding, and colleagues come from all over the world. It is very interesting to talk to people from so many places and I understand everyone. Thanks for all the help! I will visit you on vacation when I come to the country.”

Florin Ivan – Coventry University
